Pula (Croatia, Istria) is a town located on the south side of Croatian largest peninsula Istria. It is also the largest town in Istria. Pula has grown on 7 hills: Kastel, Arena, Zaro, Abbey of St. Mihovil, St. Martin, Mondipola and Pra Grande.

There are remains that show that Pula has been inhabitated since Prehistory. First inhabitants were Histris. As many sea towns and ports, Pula was known for seafarers. In 177. B.C. Romans inhabitated Pula, and it started developing fast. Romans built infrastructure and walls with 10 gates. In 7th century Croats started inhabitating Pula. In 1148. Pula gave loyaliti oath to Venetian Republic. Pula was under many attacks since than and it started to fall. Venetians ruled in Pula till 1797.
In 1813. Pula and Istria were under Austrian Empire. Pula started to develope again. In 1918. Pula and Istria were given to Italy. Inhabitants started to move because of the government of Benito Mussolini. In 1947. Pula was adjoined to Croatia. Most of the inhabitants were Italians. Today, Pula is part of independent Republic of Croatia.
Pula is very often tourist destination. Itself and its surroundings are beauty worth to see. Near Pula there is National Park Brijuni. You can enjoy in many beautiful beaches.
